All You Need To Know About Tubectomy

The permanent method for birth control for women is tubectomy. This is a surgical method in which the fallopian tubes are tied, cut, or sealed to prevent eggs from reaching the uterus for fertilization. This prevents future pregnancies. This is a very effective form of contraception for women and is also known as female sterilization. This method is for women who do not want to have more children and is done mostly after one or two pregnancies. The whole procedure is simple and safe because of the vast developments in the women’s healthcare segment.

Such a procedure does not play with a woman’s natural hormones or monthly cycle. It just blocks the path of eggs and does not have any interference with the normal sexual function. Tubectomy offers peace of mind to women who want a fixed solution for birth control.

    What Is Tubectomy?

This is a surgical method where the fallopian tubes are blocked or tied so that eggs don’t reach the sperm and get fertilized. If you are tired of taking contraceptive pills now and then and no longer want to have more children, then it is one of the safest methods known. This is a permanent method and is ideal for women who have now completed their family. Tubectomy is not just for women who want to stop getting pregnant but is also for ladies who have risky pregnancies that affect their health.

    How Is Recovery After Tubectomy?

Recovering after tubectomy is quite easy. Women resume normal activities within a week’s time. However, some pain or swelling is normal at the site of the procedure. Medicines are given to ease this pain. Therefore, heavy physical activity is avoided for some time. It’s vital that you keep the area clean and dry so that there are no infections. Routine follow-ups should be there so that if there’s any issue, it can be detected at an early stage. All you need to have is proper care if you want to recover early.

    Side Effects Of Tubectomy

Overall, tubectomy is a safe procedure, but like other processes, it has some risks too. Common side effects are pain and tiredness, accompanied by slight bleeding too. As anaesthesia is involved in the procedure, sometimes there is a reaction to it that requires medical attention. Some women might feel sad after, and that is why women need to be sure before going for such a procedure. Also, it should be noted that tubectomy does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and protection is still required.

When Is The Right Time For Tubectomy?

There is no specific time period when you can go for a tubectomy. This is a surgical procedure and is totally up to the woman as to when to go for it. When you are sure that you no longer want more kids or your family is complete, then is the time going for such a surgical procedure feels right. Therefore, it should be noted that this is a permanent step, and reversibility is not possible easily. If you are unsure about having kids, then this method should not be your option, and you should go for other contraception methods.

Therefore, tubectomy is a permanent birth control method and should only be done when you think you are ready to do it. Recovery is easy, and the overall procedure is quick, but it’s your choice that matters the most.
